What's on Friday night?
I hope you enjoy reality TV, because three of the four major networks kick off their primetime lineup with unscripted offerings.
For CBS, it's Undercover Boss, a feel-good show with a terrible title. NBC goes with Fashion Star, while Fox airs a new episode of Kitchen Nightmares, featuring America's favorite angry British chef.
ABC kicks off primetime with two sitcoms, Last Man Standing, starring Tim Allen, and Malibu Country, starring Reba McEntire. Can you think of a more unlikely sitcom star than Reba, off the top of your head? She's had not one, but two sitcoms on network television over the last thirteen years. I'm not knocking her. Her CW show was charming in its own way.
ABC airs its Friday night reality show, Shark Tank, at 9 ET, while Fox counters with the soon-to-be-cancelled Kiefer Sutherland vehicle, Touch. CBS and NBC go with scripted dramas at 9, with Hawaii Five-0 and Grimm, respectively.
If none of that strikes your fancy, might I recommend going into deep cable at 9 on The Hub network? They will air 1981's The Great Muppet Caper. A classic.
